Wow! Of at least 15 items Cactus Patchers members entered into the AQG 2019 Quilt Show, Jewels of the Desert, six were award winners!
Cindy Stohn of Cactus Patchers, Delightful Quilters, Mavericks, and Nimble Thimbles won second place for her quilt, The Big Face, in the Art/Innovative category. Cindy is also an active member of the Modern Quilt Guild and owner of Sew Cool Quilts long-arm quilting.
Mary Lanz of Cactus Patchers won first place for her quilt, Cactus Joy, in the Group Quilt category.
Nancy Parlova of Cactus Patchers won second place for her quilt, My Heart is at the Farm, in the Group Quilt category.
Claire Victor of Cactus Patchers and Delightful Quilters won third place for her quilt, Parading Parallelograms, in the Modern Quilt category. Claire is also an active member of the Modern Quilt Guild.
Dima Cook of Cactus Patchers won second place for her entry, Olive Red, in the Other Entries category.
Pam Gagnier of Cactus Patchers received Honorable Mention for her quilt, Southwest Borders, in the Pieced, Medium category.
It was an awesome show, inspiring all of us to continue cutting fabric into smaller pieces only to put them back together for the sake of creativity, comfort, beauty, to tell a story, and many more motivating reasons. View all of the 2019 winners.
The Theme for the 2020 Quilt Show is Desert Stars; if you are prone to challenges, now is the time to start planning!
Until next time, happy stitching!
Cactus Patchers, a Chapter of the Arizona Quilter's Guild, is a group of quilt lovers meeting on a regular basis to teach, appreciate and encourage the art of quilt making while creating long lasting friendships.

Meeting Tuesday, April 12, 2016: Quilts with a Story
Tuesday, April 12, 2016
6:30 to 8:30 pm (doors open at 6:00)
Pyle Center, Sedona Room (Tempe Library Complex)
Guests Welcome
Quilts with a Story: Bring a quilt or project to share along with a story about it: where it came from, what was happening in your life while you were making it, the source of the pattern, who you made it for or who made it for you, why you chose the colors or pattern, how many new swear words you learned when you wrestled with hundreds of tiny curved pieces because you didn't realize the pattern was scaled down so small, etc. Regular show & tell is also welcome.
We will also have a State of the Chapter discussion about chapter business, the May party/small quilt auction, board positions, program ideas, and possibilities for the chapter going forward.

May 14, 2013 - Kimberly Purdy
For those unable to attend the last meeting, you missed a great show. Kimberly was very entertaining & had some great pieces to show. We were also able to purchase some of her patterns & really cool rulers & templates. If you Google Kimberly Purdy, or Lilac Cottage Designs, you can see more of the items she has created. Her products are available at local quilt stores, as well as national quilt suppliers. Here are a couple of pics of Kimberly's work, with Jill's help to display.

More Congrats! Arizona Quilters Guild 2013 Annual Quilt Show - Nancy Hawkes
Sorry this took me a while (I'm working out this blog thing)---
I wish I had pictures, but the stitches were so tiny you couldn't have seen them in a picture anyway--
Congrats Tall Nancy (Hawkes), Exemplary hand quilting! Very cool, and lots and lots of stitches!
We'd love a picture Nancy!
